Second time around

Had a better stay last year but that was height of the season. Food not as good this time around and long waits for lifts due to 2 being out. Entertainment was ok but geared towards the older clientele which was most of the guests. Location is perfect for old and new town and would definitely stay again once all building works are completed.

Another great holiday!

We stayed at Rio Park again 6th time March 2017. Always the same high levels of standards ensuring a happy holiday! Although rooms are tired they are gradually being refurbished which is excellent. We have booked for a further two week stay in March 2018 in a superior refurbished room so really looking forward to another sunny stay at this excellent hotel thanks to the hard-working, efficient and dedicated staff in all quarters!

Value for money

Had a good stay for a 3 night break with my husband hotel was in a good location..we stopped in a club room and found it very nicely decorated although a little small...beds were comfortable and room was exceptionally clean...would stay again

Building work

Loved rio park but was on 11th floor woke by drilling everyday at 7 30am not what you want on holiday

Complaint regarding smoking rooms.

We stayedin IIroom 1229 which smelled a tobacco and the curtain was burnt with a cigarette. We told reception and they said that people are allowed to.smoke in the balcony. If people are allowed to smoke in the balcony with the doorsopened the smoke finds its way into the rooms. Room 1229 has been newly refurbished and that is a shame. If a room is non smoking it should not smell a Tabasco.

1 night stopover

Have stayed at the Rio Park and other Medplaya hotels many times and Im not one to usually make any negative comments but having booked a superior room on arrival at reception we were told none were available and we were being upgraded to a Club Junior Suite. Would have been more than happy with my original room so if you are going to upgrade me then at least give me the full deal eg stocked mini fridge! Its like being upgraded on a flight - a bigger seat but no extras, that wldnt happen! A bit disappointed with the restaurant this time - i know its winter and fewer guests around so dont want wastage but having to wait around for bread rolls and hot trays to be refilled isnt really on. Aside from that, animation and evening entertainment were great and free wifi throughout all the hotel was a plus. And we will be back soon!
